How do I get started?

Just click on the “Sign Up” button at www.contactme.com. All you need to enter is your email address and a password. No credit card is required. Your account is then automatically created and you’ll be ready to import or add your contacts, set up your contact form, and get a ContactMe button. Don’t worry, we’ll guide you through the process.

What is a ContactMe Button?

The ContactMe Button is an innovative and customizable “Contact” button that you can create and customize in a few steps and a few seconds. Then you can add it to your website or to other web pages where you advertise your services, like Craigslist, Facebook or WordPress. Your ContactMe button is yours to use for free, forever. Your site visitors will see and click on the ContactMe button, which pulls up a contact form. The form displays your business information, giving potential customers a direct line to you. If a site visitor submits their email address and phone number to you via the form, he or she is automatically added to your contact list in your ContactMe account. Voila, a hot new lead!

How do I add the ContactMe Button to my website?

Once you’ve selected the colors and placement of your button, ContactMe will automatically generate the code necessary to add the button to your site. All you have to do is copy the code and paste it into your website. If you already have a contact page on your website, you can save time by replacing it with the ContactMe form, which automatically passes information submitted by potential customers into your ContactMe account. What is a Contact Form?

A contact form (also known as a web form) allows people browsing the Internet to enter in data like their contact information. The data—for example, someone’s name and email address—is then automatically sent to your ContactMe account and to your email account. People surfing the web can access your contact form by clicking on your ContactMe button or by clicking on a dedicated page that is created for your ContactMe account. Your form gets its own link, so you can use it on Craigslist, eBay®, or anywhere else you advertise your services.

What’s the easiest way to add contacts to my account?

There are a few ways to add contacts into your account, including importing, directly adding, and via the ContactMe Button. The easiest way is to import your existing contacts. Just click the “Import Contacts” button and you can select contacts from Outlook, Gmail, Mac Address Book and more. Contacts from your email account are instantly pulled into your ContactMe account (first you get to pick which contacts you want to upload). Another way to add a contact is to type it directly into your account. Contacts are also automatically added anytime someone fills in data on your ContactMe contact form.

How do I keep track of my emails with my contacts?

You can always have your latest email correspondence with a client at your fingertips, which means no more time wasted while you dig through your inbox or sent folders in your email account. Just forward, cc, or bcc any important emails to "post@contactme.com" and they will be automatically stored as a note under that client’s detail page.

How do I know where things stand with each of my clients?

Simply go to that client’s page in ContactMe and type the information into the “Add Notes” box. You can specify whether the note is about a phone call, an email, a meeting, a payment, or a general interaction. Anytime you can’t recall an interaction you’ve had with a client, simply review your previous notes to get up to speed. Notes are also searchable, so if you can’t remember which client is involved with the “red sweaters,” simply type a phrase into the search bar and it will bring up that note, and the contact to which it’s linked. Once you’re organized, it’s easy to prioritize, which makes the next step—action—feel effortless.

Can I manage my to-do list with ContactMe?

ContactMe’s Tasks feature is simple yet robust. You can type “to-dos” directly into the “Add a Task” bar and then set the due date, the priority level, and the name of the contact involved. The task will show up in three places: the to-do list, the calendar, and the contact’s page, so you won’t forget to do it—and you can check it off when you’re done.

Can I view my tasks, meetings, etc. in a calendar view?

Yes! A calendar is built into ContactMe to give you the convenience of managing all contact-related activities and events right from your ContactMe account. You can view your calendar in several different ways: daily, weekly, and monthly. Even better, when you create a task or an appointment, they automatically show up in the ContactMe calendar under the date you specified.

Can I set up groups of contacts?

As your business grows, your contact list will, too. To stay organized, it helps to categorize your contacts into different groups; a freelance photographer might create groups like “Wedding Photos” and “Family Portraits.” Creating a group makes it easy for you to gain a bird’s eye view of your business and work more efficiently. For example, it only takes one click to export a group into a spreadsheet or to send the entire group an email.

Can I email my clients with ContactMe?

ContactMe works with your existing email account so you can shoot an email to a client, or to a group of clients. The system automatically integrates with Outlook, Gmail, and Mac Address Book. You just select the contacts that you want to email and it will open up a new window in your email account with the contacts’ email addresses automatically populated into the “To…” line. A great time saver!

What’s a Stage and what’s the advantage of setting one up?

Stages have two functions. Assigning your customers to a stage in the sales cycle—such as “Potential Client,” “In Discussion” or “Client”—helps you treat them accordingly. You can filter your contact list by Stage to manage your sales cycle with ease. You can even customize the stages to match your business’ sales cycle. Using the stage tool also improves the business intelligence in your ContactMe reports.

What type of statistics are available?

ContactMe provides you with powerful reporting insights to help you decide where to focus your marketing efforts. You’ll be able to see how many button views, form views, and form submissions your business has gotten per day. You’ll also get a breakdown of your contacts by stage so you can see at a glance whether you have more leads than customers, or whether you have a small or large percentage of VIP customers, for example. Most importantly, you’ll know where your customers are coming from—your website, Craigslist, Facebook or other—which is excellent information for focusing your marketing efforts on the most effective channels.
